About the publication

We publish the brief we wanted to read.

The St Andrews Market Brief is an independent student-run finance and markets publication, founded in October 2025 by undergraduates at the University of St Andrews. We are not affiliated with the University, and we take no money from sponsors, recruiters, or advertisers.

The St Andrews Market Brief

Why we exist

Most finance writing aimed at students is either career-marketing dressed up as insight, or recycled summaries of yesterday's earnings calls. We wanted somewhere to write what we were actually thinking about — slowly, with the data checked, and with the room to say "we don't know yet" when that's the honest answer.

Editorial standards

  • Every numerical figure is sourced and cited in the article footer.
  • We do not run sponsored content, affiliate links, or recruiter-paid placements.
  • Charts are reproducible from public data. We publish the underlying tickers.
  • Pieces are reviewed by at least one other editor before publication.
  • We correct errors publicly, in line, with a dated note.

What we cover

Six standing beats: global macro, individual company analysis, career intelligence, the St Andrews finance community, technology and the AI capex cycle, and verified market data. We publish roughly weekly during term.

"Markets reward people who can read carefully and think slowly. We try to be a small contribution to both."
